Privacy Policy
LittleWords ("we," "us," or "the app") explains here what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Who this app is for
LittleWords is for parents and legal guardians (or authorized caregivers) of young children, typically about 12-36 months. Children are not primary users and do not create accounts. During onboarding you confirm you are a parent/guardian entering observations about your child.
2. Information we collect
2.1 On your device (default)
- Child nickname, date of birth / age band, languages at home
- Words and phrases you log, milestone checkmarks, optional notes
- Completed activities and app preferences (language, reminders, onboarding)
This stays in on-device storage so the app works offline without an account.
2.2 Optional cloud backup
If you enable Cloud backup and sign in with Google and/or Apple (where available), we store a backup of your child profiles, Word Bank, milestones, activities, and notes with Supabase so you can restore on another device.
- Sign-in is optional; the app works without an account.
- We do not sell child data or use it for advertising profiles.
- Auth identifiers may be processed by Google, Apple, and Supabase Auth.
2.3 Subscriptions (Apple / Google)
Premium purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Billing. We do not collect your full card number. We may receive a non-sensitive entitlement signal so Premium features unlock.
2.4 Technical data
When you use online features, providers may process technical details such as device OS and app version. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy first.
3. How we use information
- Show checklists, activities, trends, and visit-prep summaries from your logs
- Restore cloud backup when you are signed in
- Unlock Premium after a valid store purchase or restore
- Respond to support and deletion requests
We do not sell personal information. We do not use developmental observations for ads.

5. Health-related disclaimer
Milestone references are adapted from publicly available CDC and ASHA guidance for parent education. Outputs are informational only - not a substitute for clinical evaluation. Consult a licensed professional for clinical questions.
6. Children's privacy
LittleWords is directed to parents/guardians, not children under 13 as primary users. We do not knowingly create child accounts or solicit data directly from children. Contact us if you believe we collected a child's information improperly.
7. Retention and deletion
- Device: Uninstall or use Settings → Reset app data.
- Cloud: Email hello@littlewords.app to request account/backup deletion (typically within 30 days).
- Subscriptions: Managed by Apple/Google; cancel in store settings.
8. Security and transfers
We use appropriate safeguards (including encryption in transit and authenticated access for backups). Cloud data may be processed where our providers operate. No system is 100% secure.
9. Your choices
- Use free features without purchase or sign-in
- Sign in only for cloud backup
- Manage subscriptions in Apple ID or Google Play
- Sign out, reset local data, or email privacy requests
10. Changes
We may update this policy and will revise the "Last updated" date. Where required, we will provide in-app notice.
